Account Structure in Google Analytics
The knowledge of the account structure in Google Analytics is important to implement a Google Analytics Project from scratch. It is also essential to grant user permissions.
Account Structure
Organization
The organization is the parent company.
Account
An account is a subsidiary business of the parent company.
Property
A property is a digital property/asset of a subsidiary business.
View
A view is where the reports are stored. Different views can be created based on the type of data that must be used to create the reports in the view. This can be specified by creating filters.
Example
To understand the account structure in Google Analytics better, let’s consider an example of Stellar Corporation, a hypothetical organization. It offers grocery delivery service and bike taxi service. Stellar has its presence in the US and India.
User permissions
User permissions can be granted at the account level, property level and view level.
Account level permission
An account level permission grants the user access to all the properties and views in the account.
Property level permission
A property level permission grants the user access to all the views of a specific property.
View level permission
A view level permission restricts the user’s access to a specific view.
